Artist Deborah Itschner

Deborah Itschner s love for art began at an early age. While others were playing, she would doodle and draw. She was known by her friends and peers as the paper doll artist, drawing cardboard paper dolls and clothes with tabs for her friends and family to color and cut out. She found art to be very relaxing and a means to escape off into a world full of imagination and color. From 1972 to 1978, Ms. Itschner served her country in the US Air Force. While serving a tour in England, she painted her first four commissioned acrylic paintings. After her military service, she pursued college and attained an Associates Degree in Applied Arts. Even though she is predominantly self taught, she chose to enroll with Art Instruction Schools, Inc., in 1974, graduating with high marks. Unfortunately, her commitments to job and family prevented her from pursuing her love for art, until the fall of 2007, where her passion to paint was reignited while taking up oil painting with a friend in Albuquerque, NM. In 2008, she and her husband chose to return to their native land of Texas, settling down in the hill country near Burnet. She became a two year member of the Highland Arts Gallery in Marble Falls, TX, where she displayed her first small inventory of paintings. She also shares her love for art by teaching beginner art students out of her home. In 2009, Deborah studied under a well known landscape artist, Lynwood Bennett, which brought her back to her original love with acrylics. She discovered her love for painting animals and birds. Her art was selected into 3 consecutive Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibits in Brownwood, TX, 2011 to 2013. She received a Merit Award and a Peoples Choice Award in the 2013 juried show, as well as two Peoples Choice Awards from the Salon shows 2011 and 2013. She has been commissioned for several pieces of art in recent years and is quite honored to have her paintings in many private residences throughout the United States.
