Artist Joshua Winston
Dallas born and raised, transplanted to the hill country, a change in environment produced a change in perception. Once influenced by big city minimalist abstracts, the natural beauty of my new surrounding landscapes now inspired me to incorporate organic material into my work. Like the hills here, my eggshell sculpture seems to embody a feeling of life and growth coupled with a looming emergence that slowly moves and takes shape while viewing it. There is no hidden meaning in my work but perhaps, a subconscious symbolism representing my constant trudge and scurry to arrange lifes broken pieces into something beautiful for myself and others to love and admire. Each piece represents a moment in a journey. Each medium chosen with a purpose. Watercolors, acrylics, oils, charcoals, organics, two dimensions or three, each a sample of observable and livable experience. A part of any given day or hour, shared or private moment, frozen in time and displayed in a physical representation that it may be experienced by all. Not hidden away for private contemplation or buried from view by all but the minds eye.
